The Physiological Basis
Of Learning/Brain Gym®
Brain Gym® International/Educational Kinesiology
Foundation
www.braingym.org
Kent, Washington, 2 days, 16 hours
Educational Kinesiology (Edu-K) is founded on the principle
that movement is the basis for all learning. Brain Gym®, a dynamic
branch of Edu-K, is a program of simple, yet powerfully effective movements
that integrate the body/brain’s physiology to reduce stress, enhance
learning and improve performance. Brain Gym® is easily integrated
into any learning environment and applies to all ages.
Discover the neuroscience behind Brain Gym® as you
learn to apply it with children in a learning environment.
As a result of this fascinating and experiential course
class you will be able to:
- Be familiar with current research on learning in the field
of educational neuroscience – from early childhood through
late adolescence.
- Understand how movement and other sensory input
create the neural pathways for learning.
- Help children focus attention, enhance learning and improve
performance through Brain Gym® exercises and other sensory
modalities.
- Reduce learning blocks and behavior problems by managing
stress.
Brain Gym® provides the tools to stay calm under pressure, think
clearly
and self-manage behavior.
- Use practical, drug-free solutions for hyperactivity,
attention deficit disorder
and other learning and behavioral challenges.
- Teach others about the brain and how they learn
as you introduce Brain Gym® activities.
Who should attend?
This course provides an introduction to applying Brain Gym® for anyone
who wants to effectively assist students in a learning environment –
parents, teachers, school administrators, counselors, OT’s, PT’s,
social workers, health care professionals, and others.
For those familiar with Brain Gym®, including licensed
Instructors/Consultants, it develops a clearer understanding of the “why”
of these movements and how to articulate this understanding to both adults
and children.
Your facilitator is Victoria Tennant, M.Ed.,
Brain Gym® Licensed Instructor/Consultant.
Victoria is an educator with 35 years of teaching experience, including
10 years as a classroom teacher. Her current workshops and curriculum
materials reflect a synthesis of 27 years of studying and presenting implications
and applications of brain/mind research. She is the creator and trainer
of two interactive programs: Healthy Beginnings, Nurturing Young Children’s
Growing Mindsä and Calming Ourselves in Stressful Momentsä published
by Comprehensive Health Education Foundation. Victoria is best known for
making abstract information meaningful, inspirational and easily understood
in ways that are multi-sensory and fun!
Materials
You will receive a course manual with information on the neuroscience
of brain development, learning and Brain Gym®. How to do the specific
Brain Gym® exercises is not included in this manual. It is highly
recommended you have the Brain Gym® Teacher’s Edition,
